Op de terugweg van Covent Garden naar ons hostel kwamen we bij het British Museum voorbij en ik besloot de man die de wacht in het kamertje bij het hek te vragen of er ook night tours werden gedaan. Dat niet, zei hij, maar ik moest de museumdirectie maar een mailtje sturen, dan konden ze het misschien als optie gaan gebruiken. Toen ik vroeg waarom er dan nog wel - een paar - mensen bij de ingang rondliepen, vertelde hij, blij om een praatje, dat er een private viewing plaatsvond van 'friends' of the museum. Er vonden zelfs wel eens sleepovers plaats, meldde hij niet zonder enige bescheiden trots. Yes, real sleepovers, with parents and all! Geweldig!
