London Sights Day 3: Oxford Street - Elianne, Jasmijn.

Oxford Street is a famous shopping street in the English capital London. The street is running from Tottenham Court Road to Marble Arch via Oxford Circus. The street gets around 200 million visitors per year and around half a million daily and that’s why it’s Europe’s busiest shopping streets.   



The street is 2,4 kilometres long and it has over 300 shops with clothes, accessories, gadgets, decoration, make up, famous brands etc. you can buy expensive brands in Oxford street but also clothes for a very cheap price. With the underground you can go to Oxford street, you go with the underground to Oxford Circus to get by Oxford street and Oxford Regent. Between the 12th century and 1782, it was known as Tyburn Road, Uxbridge Road, Worcester Road and Oxford Road. On Ralph Aggas’ plan of London, published in the 16th century , the road is describes partly as The Waye to Uxbridge followed by Oxford Road, showing rural farmland where the junction of Oxford Street and Rathbone Place now is.
