London Sights Day 3: Science Museum - Brynn, Jesper.


Science Museum London

First were are going to talk about the history of The sience museum.
The Science museum opened as the South Kensington museum in 1857. In 1862 Then science collections moved to separate buildings, the buildings were located on the Exhibition Road. In 1880  the science museum had opened a Science library, this library still exist and a large part of it is located in Wroughton and now contains more than a half million objects. In 1893 the first Science director was appointed. In 1949 the building from 1862 was demolished and a knew one was bought. The latest big expansion was the 2000 expansion. The Wellcome wing was opened by The Queen.





















Through the years is has opened several exhibitions, such as: The sun, information age, making the modern world, engineer your future, pattern pod and several others. Many exhibitions contains very modern elements. Like 3D films or VR-glasses. There are also temporary exhibtion. 
















The Dana Research centre is also located in London. Is contains a small part of the science archive. Each year is the Science Museum Volunteer Awards. Around 50 volunteers at the museum and the best one will get awarded. This is to celebrate all the volunteers at the musem.
